In 2000, Mr. Doran founded the John Doran Family Foundation with the mission to provide aid and support to disadvantaged children and young people and to support local New England area non-profit organizations including the Harvard Square
Homeless Shelter. The foundation is also a major supporter of The Joey Fund, The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation,The Hot Dog Safari, The Robert F Kennedy Memorial,Holy Cross College, Harvard Business School, The National Braille Press,Community Music Center of Boston, Gosnold on Cape Cod,The Wellesley Education Foundation , The Dana Farber Cancer Institute ,The Multiple Sclerosis Society and The Eagle Hill School for learning disabled children.
Mr. Doran is a charter member of the Trust Board for the Perkins School for the Blind ,and serves on the board the Italian Home for Children , The Hillside School of Marlborough and Lasell College , where he established the Eleanor V .Doran Scholarship Fund. Additionally, in 2007, he donated Doran Park to the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod Baseball League and currently chairs the Bourne Braves board.
